Jazmin & the Berets is a three piece musical outfit comprising of the talents of tap dancer and cabaret performer Jazmin Baret, singer and guitarist John Matthews and saxophonist Michael O’Dougherty.
After an impromptu jam at the studio warming of American artist Linda McCluskey at the famous 59 Rivoli in the centre of Paris, Jazmin and the Berets soon hit the bridges and the bars of Paris. An instant hit with both the locals and the tourists, they were soon invited to play at events and for celebrities in Paris with also considerable international interest.
Combining jazz standards, originals and country swing, the trio adapt to the mood of their venue and audience- vibrant concerts at the famous Shakespeare & Co Bookshop in St Michel, blusey bars in popular Paris quariers, black tie art events and private parties.

Michael O’Dougherty (sax/ vocals/flute) is originally from Denver, Colorado. His star-studded credits include playing with Dizzy Gillespie and for Diana Ross and Carry Grant. Yono Ono once gave him 20 Euro on the Boulevard St Germaine and each year as Christmas approached he moonlights as… Santa Clause! Michael played for over a decade at the famous Hollywood Savoy in Paris and has cheered audiences at thousands of events, concerts and soirées on both sides of the Atlantic.
John Matthews (guitar, vocals) is from the Bronx, New York where he learnt to play guitar and sing, forming various outfits including Black Coffee. John’s ‘country swing’ style lends itself to jazz, country and folk lovers ‘ ears, with an added element of musical trance… John has toured Asia, Europe, the Caribbean and the States and now calls Paris home where he regularly plays in many Irish and local bars in various outfits including with percussionist Pat Gigon (the Caravan Passe), the Old Time Messengers and the Blarney Pïlgrims.

Tap dancer/performer Jazmin Baret, originally from Sydney, Australia, has danced her way around the globe at international festivals (Glastonbury, Edinburgh Fringe, Melbourne Arts, Sydney Festival, Paris Burlesque…) playing in venues including L’Olympia, Le Café de la Danse ,The Famous Spiegeltent and at the Hilton in Mumbai. Jazmin has appeared on stage with Juliette Dragon & Le Cabaret des Filles de Joie, Brad Scott (Cabaret Sauvage), Caravan Palace, Ed Boyle (Legs on the Wall), Ben Palumbo and many other international artists.
